We are excited to introduce you to our newest M&G team member, Liana Knapp! You’ve likely heard me talk on Instagram about our issues with finding just the right person to fill the big role of supporting me, the CEO and founder. I’ve also been very candid about the challenges (and exhaustion!) of spreading myself way too thin and doing all the things as the business grows beyond a one-woman-show operating out of my basement.
We have finally found just the right person to be my right and left hand in Liana. Her job will be to keep the me on task and set boundaries so that together we can accomplish more in a day. I have no doubt that together we will be an unstoppable force as this business grows. I’m thankful to have her in my corner and I know that the rest of the team is glad she is here too.
Now, keep reading to learn all about Liana in her own words!
Tell us a little about yourself:
I am a Marylander through and through. I grew up in Montgomery County and eagerly look forward to my family’s annual crab feast. I now live in Frederick and I love the downtown area for good food and fun events. In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, and trying out new cupcake recipes.
What attracted you to the Personal Assistant to the CEO position?
I love working in an environment where there are multiple things happening at once. I also enjoy working closely with one person while also learning about all of the moving parts happening around the company.
What were you doing before joining Marigold & Grey and how do you think it will benefit you in your new position?
I worked as a surgical coordinator for a veterinarian who specialized in orthopedic surgeries on dogs. The job polished my organizational skills as I was multitasking and keeping track of multiple cases at a time.
What do you look forward to about this job?
I am very excited about learning a new industry as well as working closely with Jamie to understand the ins and outs of Marigold & Grey.
A favorite celebrity wedding?
My favorite was the 2011 Royal Wedding with Prince William and Kate Middleton. I remember watching it on TV and I was so excited to see Kate’s dress.
A favorite movie?
Ever After is one of my favorites! I don’t think I will ever get sick of this Cinderella retelling.
A favorite summertime travel destination?
Deep Creek Lake has been a family favorite for several years now. It’s nice to be on the lake and enjoy a change in scenery.
A favorite insta account these days?
I love Danae Mercer Ricci’s account (@danaemercer) as she posts a lot of body-positivity content. I also love The Family Room (@thefamilyroomlaytonsville); a cute, women-owned shop that serves ice-cream and coffee, while also having gifts and fun events!
The best gift you’ve ever given?
My best friend moved out of her parent’s house and into a tiny apartment. Due to her job and the distance, she would be spending Christmas away from her family and their traditions. In the past, her whole family would go and cut a massive Christmas tree together, but she couldn’t get her own tree in her apartment and said it just wasn’t Christmas without a tree. So, I took a box and created a paper tree that would open out of the box like a pop-up card. Then, I wrapped small gifts to have the in the bottom of the box. That way, she was able to open presents under a tree.
